How the comparison works
The app follows a road continuation ahead from your position and direction. It searches Fuel Finder forecourts within 5 km of that corridor, then requests a driving route to each forecourt and back onto the same road ahead.
Extra miles and minutes are measured against driving directly to the same rejoining point. Net saving = pump-price saving on your fill − extra fuel cost − optional value of extra driving time. UK mpg uses an imperial gallon (4.54609 litres).
Routes requiring a U-turn, an uncertain forecourt entrance, or an unconfirmed return to the road are excluded. The current road is inferred from routed geometry, not from a compass label alone. Fork choices cannot be predicted: the confirmed search distance is shown with each result.
